The Firm’s founder, James Tobia, brings multiple talents and expertise to each client engagement. He began practicing law in Delaware in 1998, focusing on corporate and commercial litigation with Richards, Layton & Finger, P.A. focusing on corporate and commercial litigation and later corporate litigation with Potter, Anderson & Corroon, LLP, two of Delaware’s oldest firms and worldwide leaders in corporate governance and litigation. In between his time with those firms, Mr. Tobia practiced with The Bayard Firm, P.A., (now Bayard P.A.), where Mr. Tobia also participated in litigation related to Bankrupt debtors, including prosecution of bankruptcy preference and avoidance actions, in addition to continuation of his corporate and commercial litigation practice.

Since forming the Law Office of James Tobia, LLC in 2006, Mr. Tobia has continued to appear in bankruptcy preference actions — now in defense of creditor, to litigate in state and federal commercial litigation matters and to advise small business clients in various matters of corporate governance. As an outgrowth of that practice, Mr. Tobia now routinely counsels clients in more personal matters related to their domestic relations and family law issues, as well as their estate planning.

Mr. Tobia graduated in 1998 from Cornell Law School, where he served as Editor, Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy. He also graduated in 1995 from Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and History.
